E31 Headlamp Washer Jets Removal

So have you ever looked at those washer jets in the nose cone and assumed they can be removed from underneath?

Well think again as I wager many a jet has been damaged before it was discovered how it is done.

Firstly, you need to pressurize the washer system, seen here with an air gun.

If you do it well, you can trap some air pressure in the system.

here I secured a length of hose between my air gun . . .

and the inlet to the washer system pipework.

With the air pressure retained in the system, the jets lift fully . . .

to enable you to remove the body colored covers by just popping them off by hand . . .

to reveal a slotted screw underneath.

this can either be undone with a very wide screwdriver or a pair of thin nosed pliers as seen here.

This then releases the washer jet assembly to drop down underneath the nosecone . . .

and when done to all of the jets, releases the system.

Job done.
